The TD5 turbo and how it is placed on the 200 Tdi engine
The TD5 turbo

TD5 Turbo conversion

Published: 11 Sep 2012

At O&O Vehicle Engineering we are always testing the limits of Land Rovers and with 2 of our own we always like to 'play' with them to see what we can do. Most Land Rover owners will complain at the lack of speed or power of their engine. So we took our 200 Tdi Defender 90 and put a second hand TD5 turbo on it.

This modification also requires the exhaust to be changed to the more modern TD5 exhaust and removal of the centre silencer. It is quite apparent that more boost is produced increasing acceleration, and with more torque there is a reduced need to change gear. Although it is early days we have found this consequently leads to fuel saving.
